Katharine Taylor was born in Hartford, Connecticut on June 24, 1888. She earned an A.B. from Vassar College in 1910 and an M.A. from the University of Michigan in 1911. She taught English at Vassar from 1913-1916; was on the faculty of the Francis W. Parker School in Chicago from 1916-1921; and was Director of the Shady Hill School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1921-1949.
